Lenda Jean Foster, born May 5, 1947 in Meridian, MS, died at her home in Covington on Friday February 28, 2020.
Jean was known not only as a doting and devoted mother to her four children, Mechelle, Keith, Mandy and Angie, but also as a loving grandmother, mother in law, sister, and friend.
Many words have been used to describe her exemplary character, including fun loving, carefree, loyal, independent, compassionate, and determined. The accolade used most frequently, though, is “selfless.” Often spoken of as someone who would “give you the shirt off her back,” she would drop everything to help people or make them happy, especially her family members. She had a smile and a laugh that would light up any room, and a sweet, comforting nature that put everyone around her at ease, even those who didn’t know her well.
After she raised her family, she continued her love for nurturing children and furthering their educations by teaching preschool for over 20 years. She extended her kindheartedness to everyone she met, children and adults alike.
Jean’s family considers her life to be one that was well-lived, well-loved, and well-spent. Her legacy will always be one of love and kindness, and of togetherness. There was no single aspect of life more important to her than sharing experiences and closeness with her family.
Jean is preceded in death by her Mother, Katie Mae Anderson, her Father, Ander Martin Anderson, and her brother, Andrew Joseph Anderson, and her nephew Ralph Lester Wallace, Jr.
She is survived by her twin sister, Joyce Wallace, her husband Ralph, their son Lyle and his wife Amy (Leigh, Anna, and Cale).
She is also survived by her daughter, Mechelle Ansley, her husband Jason, their children Auburn Kidd, her husband Seth (Delta and Vivianne), Christian Berry, Krissy Ansley (Gunner and Maisyn), and Brett Ansley.
Her son Keith Ethridge, his wife Kristy, and their children Kasey Owen, husband Scott (Myles, Charlie, Maura Lane), Jake Ethridge, Summer Ethridge, Karli Bartlett, Allie Ethridge, and Kyndal Ethridge.
Her daughter Amanda Foster, her daughter Angela Bernard, husband Matthew and children Caleb and Scout Bernard.
